The final years

The bitter years in prison gave birth to new and deeply spiritual writings: "La Réalité intérieure" and "De la Prison de ce monde". During his last twenty years, Faÿ produced several of his best historical works in relationship  with Jean-François Chiappe, Pierre Gaxotte, André Castelot and les Editions académiques Perrin: "Louis XVI ou la fin d’un monde", "La Grande Révolution", "Naissance d’un monstre l’opinion publique" ," l’Aventure coloniale","Les Précieux","La Guerre des trois fous : Hitler, Staline, Roosevelt","Beaumarchais ou les fredaines de Figaro","Jean-Jacques Rousseau ou le rêve de la vie","Rivarol et la Révolution". A traditional catholic, he published "L’Ecole de l’Imprecation" and "L’Eglise de Judas" wherein he expressed his disagreement with Vatican Council II.

Bernard Faÿ died on December 31, 1978, aged 85, at his home in the country, surrounded by those nearest to him.
